As far as I am concerned, we all need superheroes in our lives in one way or another. Maybe it is to entertain us or to fuel our imagination, but they can also give us hope and to have someone to look up to. Superheroes are a lot of different things to almost all people, and everyone has a different definition of what a superhero is, but here is what I think: Superheroes come with their own super powers. Batman, for example, doesn’t have a ‘superpower’. He relies on his own strength, resilience and skill that he has honed to perfection (there are actually books written on 'Becoming Batman' if you're considering a career change). It is the same for real life superheroes. They are people with exceptional skill, courage, the ability to face their fears and with a strong moral code. That is their superpower. What does this have to do with massage in the workplace, or even your business you wonder? Well, I was just getting to that. You see, to me, our Bodyworkz massage therapists are Superheroes. Massage superheroes. No, they are not wearing capes and masks, and they won’t soar into your building or fly to save you (but they will help you if you need it, I am pretty sure of it). What they will do is use their skill to help you fight the physical stress that is building up right now, in your body, just from sitting on that chair in front of your computer for such a long time, as well as talk to you about the stretches you need to keep your neck and body flexible. And that is kinda important, because increased blood flow keeps your body moving, and your brain going.
So why do you need a massage super hero in your office? Well, here are 3 reasons: 1) The massage from your ‘superhero’ will energize you. Sounds strange that a massage that relaxes will also energize you? Not so. Because we keep our massages down to a short 15 minute session (or 20 minutes), we don’t allow your nervous system to go into that full deep relaxation (i.e. not allowing the autonomic nervous system to take over from the sympathetic, if you want to get a bit technical). This means that although you will feel your body relaxing, the mind is alert and ready to bounce back to work after, and you won’t fall asleep at your desk. You might fall asleep in the massage chair but that’s it. 2) We work on the areas that are most affected by the desk-bound posture. This would be your neck, shoulders, arms and hands (yes hands are affected as is your forearms from typing), and your back. Bet you feel tension in any of those areas right now, right? This is one of the reasons we encourage you to get up from your desk, and walk to the massage chair. This chair is ergonomically correct and it is probably the only time during the day that your posture gets to fully relax without tension. 3) Happy, pain-free staff increases performance When people are in pain (that subtle, niggling pain you almost take for granted), and feeling stressed (your perception of the load you carry), it can be harder to think clearly and focus on what needs to be done. A regular 15-minute massage from above mentioned superhero is an easy and simple tool to deal with stress management in the workplace. Sounds too easy? The best things usually are! However, don’t take my word for it, dial us for a massage superhero today, light up the Bat-signal or send us an email today and see for yourself!
