Informed Consent for a Bodyworkz Chair massage session
Welcome to our consent page regarding your upcoming chair massage sessions with us.
Below is a short explanation of the process we will take you through and what to expect.
Why do we ask for your consent?
Every health professional in New Zealand can only treat someone who has given their informed consent.
With a chair massage we don't intend to 'treat you' medically, but this is still physical therapy as such, and giving consent means you understand what the session is about, and that this is a safe and professional space.

What is chair massage and what can I expect?
Chair massage is a convenient, safe, and effective way to relieve physical and mental stress.
Your seated massage session is performed in an ergonomically correct chair so your posture can fully relax.
Your therapist will also show you how to sit in the chair and will adjust it so it suits you.
No clothing is removed, except perhaps a thick jumper or a cardigan as a second layer.
Your clothes will be covered by a thin sheet that the therapist will work over.
The therapist will then focus their massage work on the shoulders, back, neck and sometimes arms.
Your therapist will ask about the pressure they’re applying, so please be honest and let them know if you require less or more.
Our therapists are great massage therapists, but not mind readers.
The therapist will not be offended if you want to change the pressure.
If you experience any pain or discomfort during this session, you will immediately inform the practitioner so that the pressure and/or strokes may be adjusted to your level of comfort.
The massage therapist is fully trained in Massage Therapy and your confidentiality and integrity is always guaranteed.
Please be on time!
The therapist has a tight schedule to follow and if you’re late, they can’t make up the time, as it would affect the next person.
